“The Art of Doing Things Out of Order”

Some people wake up, sip their coffee, open their planner, and follow their day in a neat little line.
I am not one of those people.
My brain wakes up like a feral squirrel with a to‑do list taped to its back. I’ll sit down to do one thing, like edits for Aurora Silentia, and suddenly I’m building three new pages on my website, designing a subscription package, uploading a week’s worth of journal pages, creating promo codes, and answering comments across five social platforms.
And the wild part? It works for me.
I’ve stopped trying to force myself into the “one task at a time” box. My creativity doesn’t move in a straight line. It moves in spirals, bursts, loops, and sudden lightning strikes. Some days, I can barely pick a cereal. On other days, I build an entire digital universe before lunch.
Today was one of those days.
My schedule said “AS edits,” but my brain said, “Actually, let’s upload freebies, rebuild a section of the website, and write a blog first.” And honestly? That’s fine. Because the work still gets done, just not in the order anyone expects.
If you’re like me, here’s your reminder: Your process doesn’t have to look tidy to be valid. Your creativity doesn’t have to be linear to be powerful. Your productivity doesn’t have to match anyone else’s rhythm.
Some of us build worlds in spirals. Some of us create in chaos. Some of us thrive out of order.
And that’s okay.
Now that the freebies are up and this blog is done… maybe I’ll get to those edits. Or maybe I’ll accidentally build a new page again. Who knows. Not me.
